Song for Woody
02:49
|
|||
The door comes flying open and the kids run to the car
They're running so far, so fast, they don't know where they are
They're running everywhere 'cause that's what kids'll do
And if you've got a question, you have to run too
You're sitting on the porch and the kids come screaming home
And they're running up the stairs because they want to be left alone
They want to be left alone, 'cause that's what kids'll do
And if you've got an answer, there's nothing you can do
They don't want to listen and they don't want to stay
And there's nothing you can do because it's always been that way
It's always been that way and there's nothing you can do
And if you've got a problem, uh, hmmm-hmmm-hmmm-hmmm-hmmm
They want to be independent and they want to be with their friends
And they want to stay at the party until the party ends
They want to stay at the party 'cause that's what kids'll do
And if you want to go to the party, you can't
You can't go to the party, 'cause you're forty-five years old
And you were not invited and you're sitting on the porch
You're sitting on the porch 'cause that's what parents do
And if you've got a problem, uh, boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo
The kids become the parents, and the parents have more kids
And we've got it coming and going and I guess we always did
We've got it coming and going 'cause that's the way it goes
And if you've got a problem, the Wabash Cannonball

Love in Vain
03:15
|
|||
You might think I'm charming
You might think I'm game
You may want me
But my love is in vain
You might think I'm foolish
You might think I'm lame
You may want someone else
But your love is in vain
All of love's in vain
All of love's in vain
I can't explain how love is in vain
But let me tell a story
About a love in twain
A man wanted a woman
Whose love was in vain
Upon his bended knee
He cried don't leave again
She proved nothing is sacred
And all of love is in vain
All of love's in vain
All their love is in vain
They can't explain how love is in vain
But I could write a line about the time
That you and I met
I could tell a lie and I could sigh
And try to forget
If you want to live your life
With someone like me
Then you have to be in misery
And if you want to sit beside the sun
Inside the sea
Then you have to read your history
'Cause all of love's in vain
All of love's in vain
I can't explain how love is in vain

Harassing Me with Kisses
02:47
|
|||
I can't get to sleep for the last three weeks
You're harassing me with cell phone calls
You want to be my lover but I've got another
Can't you see I've only got two balls?
Harassing me with kisses
That's what you do
Harassing me all night long
You don't got no business
Harassing me with kisses
When you gonna let me move along?
You're coming to the door
And begging on the floor
You're obsessing 'bout the love of your life
But it's the middle of the night
And I don't requite
And you're making it very hard for my wife
(refrain)
I shouldn't have let you hold my hand
And walk me home that day
Now you can't seem to understand
I'm asking you to go away
I really do think
That you should see a shrink
For the cycles turning in your head
Or I'll make a report
To the District Court
Asking them to take you out of my bed
(refrain)

The Bittersweetest Love
03:08
|
|||
I want you to know
I know you have to go
The bittersweetest love I've ever known
Reminds me that I'll never really be alone
You gave your love to me
That's one way for people to be free
But once you have existed in ecstasy
The ordinary life is hard to keep
I think I can be happy for you
And I hope that you can be happy for me
But every lover must say goodbye
Every lover has to cry
There is no use in asking why
The fates decree, and the gods agree, that it's time
I want you to know
I know you have to go

The Victims of Yalta
02:51
|
|||
They never knew what we knew
They only had to live through
The fear and the death and the holding of breath
And the being a victim of Yalta
There were four million of them
To be one was to be condemned
To return to a home that was gone long ago
And that's why they're the victims of Yalta
General Volkov had fought with the Nazis
Which placed him in moral paradoces
Because he fought to overthrow the tyrant of Moscow
Who only wanted victims of Yalta
General Volkov had two hundred thousand men
Who would rather die than be Bolshevik
So die they would do for the Bolsheviks who
Would make them the victims of Yalta
And then there were the Cossacks of the Don
Who had long fled the Soviet Union
First went the men, then the women and children
And they were all made victims of Yalta
Locked in trains, they crossed the frontier
And many were murdered right there
But just as many more were transported to Siberia
Where they lived on as victims of Yalta
I sing for the kids who survived
Who had to live their arduous lives
Without mothers and fathers who'd been shot in the head
And made millions more victims of Yalta
If you fight for democracy
You might think that people are free
But not in this case, with a gun to their face
They were all made victims of Yalta

Cancun 12/21/12
04:09
|
|||
She was a Chevy Chase girl who took a plane to Cancun
She said the earth is gonna be swollen like the last full moon
It was cold and dark that day, but the rest of the week lay ahead
When the sun came up, they were laying out on the sand
With the wind and the waves and the water and the pelican
Barefoot in a hammock, lazing and reading a book
Grandad and the grandkids gathered up their snorkeling stuff
Gonna search for the turtles and the fishes out in the surf
She took a picture on the shore, and they swam out to meet their fate
The wind and the waves and the water were strong that day
Then the current started pulling Grandad out of the bay
He tried to call for help, he knew he was gonna go down
There was a woman in a kayak on the water about a hundred feet away
It took her ninety seconds flat to row to him without delay
She lifted him into the boat, and gave him CPR on his throat
He coughed up the salty water that had got into his lungs
He was white and non-responsive and seventy-six years young
He didn't know it at the time, but those people were saving his life
He woke up on the shore and everyone said he looked ok
He felt like shit and went to bed but was concerned to say
Thanks to the first responders and "I'm happy to be alive"
She gathered with her father and her family on the beach that night
They all said thank you and I love you and it was all right
Some kids drank too much, and that'll probably be the next song
So if you're ever gonna take a plane down to Cancun
You better be ready for the end 'cause it's coming soon
You better get on your knees and say thank you Jesus, please
Ah ooooooooo Cancun

Black Hole Blues
03:03
|
|||
They sentenced me to ten years in the hole
They sentenced me to ten years in the hole
And now how long is ten years, my dear, I fear I just don't know
They put me in the hole for my crime
They put me in the hole for my crime
And now all I know, all I know, all I've got, all I have got is time
And time slips away
Time goes astray
Time just plays with my mind
They put me in the hole for my sin
They put me in the hole for my sin
And once you're in, you're in, you're in, you can't come back again
I don't know if it's day or night
I can't tell if it's day or night
And I forgot, can't tell, can't see, I forgot what the color is of light
'Cause light slips away
Light goes astray
Light takes aim at my mind
I'm talking to you I'm talking to you I'm talking to you I'm talking to you
I'm talking to you
I'm talking to you I'm talking to you I'm talking to you I'm talking to you I'm talking to
Waaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I find that I'm talking to myself
I find that I'm talking to myself
But that's ok with me, I see that I've got nobody else
The warden said one day I'll be free
The warden says some day I'll be free
But I can't tell, can't see, can't believe how that could ever be
'Cause life slips away
Life goes astray
Life just preys on my mind

A Real Bad Dream
02:22
|
|||
I had a real bad dream I was split at the seam
And I thought that a monkey was crawling all over me
I fell out of my bed
It was a real bad dream and it went straight through my head
I was sleeping in a tree, in world war three
And the angels and the devils were fighting in Gallipoli
I hung by a thread
It was a real bad dream and it went straight through my head
I was locking up the door in the middle of the night
And a man in black came along and stabbed me in the back
And I couldn't breathe
It was a real bad dream and I threw myself into the sea
Then I climbed the stairs just to find my home
But the door was open to a great big hole of Swiss cheese
And I felt dread
It was a real bad dream and it went straight through my head
Well, I told the doctor all about my dreams
And I asked if he knew just exactly what they mean about me
This is what he said
He said "It's just a bad dream and it's only in your head."
Then I saw Bobby Dylan all alone in my dream
And I said, "Hey Bobby, why don't we sing harmony?"
But he turned and fled
That was a real bad dream and it went right to my head

Virginia's Eyes
04:22
|
|||
The beautiful Virginia walking through the woods
She was on fire for the skies
She wanted what the heavens and the vedas said was good
She prayed for peace with innocent brown eyes
Aaaaahhhh
The villain Rajathana saw Virginia on the path
He was on fire for her eyes
He blocked her way with a gaze of lustful wrath
He intended she would bring him delight
Aaaaahhh
Virginia asked Rajathana why he made her stay
She saw the fire in his eyes
She spoke of her devotion to Siddhartha and the way
She wouldn't be persuaded by his lies, or his sighs, or cries
And Rajathana cried, "I'm on fire for your eyes!
I'm on fire for your eyes!
Let me have your lips, your chest, your backside and thighs.
I'm on fire for your eyes!
AAAAAAAaaaarrrrrrgghghghghhhhhhh!
Let me give you palaces with servants
Let me give you wine and gold and incense
Let me give you fragrant oil essence
Only let me now, and forever, love your eyes."
Virginia laughed and said that he was blind
She knew his fire was unwise
To lust for a gelatinous mass of brine and slime
And so she gave him the gift of her eyes
Aaaaahhh
She gouged her fingers in her sockets, it was easy
She held her eyeballs in her hand
Rajathana backed away in horror and disease
He knew her body he could not command
Aaaaahhh
The beautiful Virginia walking through the woods
She was on fire for the skies
She wanted what the vedas and heavens said was good
She prayed for peace without her lovely eyes
Aaaaahhhh
